In 15 years I&#8217;ve never had an attack make it through. However, their notifications is the reason why I&#8217;m leaving.<\/em><\/strong><em> It used to be set it and forget it. The only time you ever get any popup or dialog or notification is when they prevented an attack. Nowadays, <\/em><strong><em>at least 5 times a day and nothing short of turning it off prevents them or tones them down.<\/em><\/strong><em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For others, the great security outweighs annoying marketing tactics:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTo each his own, but I, for one, like Norton. <\/em><strong><em>The pop-ups are annoying, but I&#8217;ve found both Utilities and AntiTrack useful, and I wouldn&#8217;t have considered them if it were not for the pop-ups. <\/em><\/strong><em>Yes, their approach to upsell is sleazy, but if you look past that, I think the actual products (not including their password manager) are good, for what it&#8217;s worth.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"728\" height=\"165\" src=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nortonredditpositivereview.png\" alt=\"Positive Reddit post about Norton \" class=\"wp-image-18376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nortonredditpositivereview.png 728w, https:\/\/joindeleteme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/nortonredditpositivereview-300x68.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crypto miner backlash&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A few years ago, Norton bundled a cryptocurrency mining tool called &#8220;Norton Crypto&#8221; with its antivirus software &#8211; and faced severe backlash for doing so.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numerous articles and social media posts accused Norton of secretly mining on users\u2019 computers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/1\/7\/22869528\/norton-crypto-miner-security-software-reaction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to The Verge<\/a>, these claims were not true. Apparently, Norton stated in its FAQs that it would not mine without permission and that, in addition to having a device that meets system requirements for mining, users also needed to enable Norton Crypto on their devices.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Norton ended its crypto-mining feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/news\/nortonlifelock-to-end-antivirus-crypto-mining-due-to-ethereum-merge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">after the Ethereum merge<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Security<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nortonlifelock.com\/us\/en\/privacy\/global-privacy-statement\/?inid=nortonlifelock-privacy_teaser-1_global-privacy-statement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">privacy policy<\/a>, Norton lists the security measures it has in place to protect your personal data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include physical safeguards (e.g., locking doors and file cabinets and controlling access to facilities), technical safeguards (e.g., encryption and intrusion detection), and organizational safeguards (e.g., security awareness training).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-heading\">Privacy&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Norton explains the kind of data it collects, why, and with whom it shares it in its <a href=\"https:\/\/us.norton.com\/privacy\/general-privacy-notice?inid=norton-privacy_teaser-1_general-privacy-notice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">privacy policy<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It collects the following information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>User data: <\/strong>Account data (e.g., name, mailing address, phone number, driver\u2019s license, date of birth), payment data, identity data (mother\u2019s maiden name, insurance information, government identifier), communications.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>User content: <\/strong>Any data you share on Norton\u2019s public forums.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Careers: <\/strong>Contact information and resume, if you are applying for a job at Norton.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Product data: <\/strong>Device data, service data, security data, geolocation data, and network traffic data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Website data: <\/strong>Internet or other electronic network activity information, commercial information, and inferences drawn from personal information about the web pages or products you view, etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Referral information: <\/strong>Including data about family members you include on your account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Third-party data: <\/strong>Including data from credit reporting agencies, marketing partners, and public sources such as the dark web.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Norton collects this information for account setup, service delivery, support, billing, legal compliance, service improvement, fraud prevention, threat analysis, marketing, communications, targeted ads, promotions, and offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company does not sell your personal information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it may share it with partners or resellers (for joint offers or distribution), advertising partners, analytics providers, service providers, payment processors, public authorities, corporate affiliates, restoration service partners, third-party services, and in business transfers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Norton says it will retain your data for <em>\u201cas long as necessary to provide you with our Services, or for as long as we have another legitimate business purpose to do so, but not longer than permitted or required
